laxative
  • Glycerin  is a hyper-osmotic laxative, having stimulant and lubricant Properties.
  • It acts by attracting water into the stools in the colon and, consequently, stimulating rectal contraction and defecation within 15 - 30  minutes. 
  • Glycerin  suppositories also lubricate and soften inspissated fecal mass, ensuring thereby nonstraining defecation .
  • Glycerin  suppositories are ideal for infants  and young children .

Each pediatric Glycerin  900 suppository contains:

  • Glycerin        900 mg. 

Each  adult Glycerin  1800 suppository contains:

  • Glycerin       1800 mg.

Glycerin suppositories are indicated in the following disorder :

  • Short term relief of constipation in adults and children .
  • Prophylactically in patients who should not strain during  defecation , such as those with an episiotomy wound, painful thrombosed hemorrhoids, fissures or perianal abscess, anorectal stenosis, or postmyo-cardialinfarction 
  • Constipation during pregnancy and lactation .
  • Glycerin suppositories can be used safely for all age groups. 
  • Occasionally ,minor local skin irritation surrounding  the rectal area might be experienced.

Adults:

  • 1 - 2 suppositories Glycerin 1800  per day .

Children:

  • 1 - 2 suppositories Glycerin  900 per day. 
  • Use of laxative suppositories on routine basis is not recommended .
  • Whenever normal bowel movement is reestablished , treatment should be discontinued .
  • Pack of pediatric Glycerin  900 contains 10 suppositories.
  • Pack of adult Glycerin  1800 contains 10 suppositories.
  • Store in temperature below 25 °C .
