Polyxin®
Broad spectrum Antifungal-Antibacterial
Indication
Polyxin® vaginal ovules are indicated for topical treatment of :
- Vaginal infection.
- Bacterial or fungal cervical infections.
- Vaginal leukorrhea.
- Protection from infection before surgery in lower genital system.
Composition
Each ovule of Polyxin® vaginal ovules contains :
- Polymyxin B sulphate 35000 IU.
- Neomycin sulphate 35000 IU.
- Nystatin 100000 IU.
Dosage
- One ovule of polyxin® is inserted in the vagina before bedtime for 12 days.
- Preferable and easier insert the ovule while lying down on your back, use your own face cloth and towel, wear cotton underwear, aviod vaginal douches and aviod using tampons during treatment.
- Do not stop treatment during menstrual period.
- Your physician may also treat your sexual partern in order to avoid reinfection.
- Polyxin® vaginal ovules is a broad spectrum gram-positive and gram-negative antibacterial product , as it contains Neomycin sulphate, aminoglycoside antibiotics, which has a bactericidal action on a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. And Polymyxin B sulphate, an antibiotic polypeptide, which acts as bactericidal relatively gram-negative flora.
- Also Polyxin® vaginal ovules contains Nystatin -polyene antifungal- which has a fungicidal and fungistatic action against wide range of fungi.
Each ovule of Polyxin® vaginal ovules contains :
- Polymyxin B sulphate 35000 IU.
- Neomycin sulphate 35000 IU.
- Nystatin 100000 IU.
Polyxin® vaginal ovules are indicated for topical treatment of :

Polyxin® vaginal ovules is contraindicated in :
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the formulation.
- When use of latex diaphragms or condoms.
- Concomitant use of Polyxin® vaginal ovules with antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group increases the sensitive of its ingredient, there for this concomitant should be avoided, and patients should be controlled when it is necessary to this concomitant.
Polyxin® vaginal ovules is not recommended during pregnancy and must not be taken while breast-feeding.
- Allergic eczema in contact application, especially in the long term of treatment. Report any unwanted effect not mentioned in this leaflet to your physician or pharmacist .

- In cases of contact allergic, oral antibiotic should be indicated.
- Should be comply strictly with limited period of treatment.
- Case of renal failure.
- Store below 30°C .
