To relieve the symptoms of cold and flu and analgesic
  • Paracetamol is a para-aminophenol derivative, it is a non-opioid, nonsalicylate. It has an analgesic, antipyretic properties and weak anti-inflammatory activity.
  • Pseudoephedrine HCl is a sympathomimetic agent, for sympathomimetic 
    relief from nasal congestion.
  • Chlorpheniramine maleate is an alkylamine derivative, it is a sedating antihistamine that causes a moderate degree of sedation it also has antimuscarinic activity.
  • Paracetamol and Pseudoephedrine are readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. However, Chlorpheniramine maleate is absorbed relatively slowly from the gastrointestinal tract.
  • The triple components are widely distributed in the body, including placenta and breast milk.
  • Unchanged drug and metabolites for the three compounds are excreted in the urine.

Each film coated caplet of  New-dol® Cold & Flu contains: 

  • Paracetamol                                      500 mg  
  • Pseudoephedrine HCl                          30 mg  
  • Chlorpheniramine maleate                  2  mg

Each 5ml of New-dol® Cold & Flu Solution contains:

  • Paracetamol                                160 mg
  • Pseudoephedrine HCl           15 mg
  • Chlorpheniramine maleate             1 mg

New-dol® Cold & Flu is indicated for the relieve of symptoms of common cold and flu such as :

  • Fever, nasal congestive, sinus congestion, headache and sinus pain, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes.

New-dol® Cold & Flu is contraindicated in the following cases: 

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. 
  • Should not  be used by patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors,antidepressants or within two weeks of stopping such treatment.
  • Hepatic or renal dysfunction.
  • Paracetamol: New-dol® Cold & Flu may interact with anticoagulant agents on prothrombin time.
  • The liver effects of New-dol® Cold & Flu may be increased by the use of alcohol and the concomitant use of certain drugs which enhance the 
     metabolism of Paracetamol in the liver (i.e. barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants).
  • Coadministration of Pseudoephedrine and MAOIs may lead to hypertensive crisis. This effect may persist for up to 2 weeks after discontinuation of MAOIs.
  • Enhanced sedative effects of Chlorpheniramine can occur with simultaneous administration of alcohol, anxiolytics and hypnotics.
  • Tricyclic antidepressants and antimuscarinics can increase antimuscarinic side effects.
  • As with any drug medical advice should be taken before using New-dol® Cold & Flu
  • New-dol® Cold & Flu  should not be used during breast feeding as theremay be risks associated with use of antihistamines in infants.
  • Paracetamol when taken in recommended doses, is usually free from side effects. However, skin reactions such as urticaria have been reported rarely.
  • Pseudoephedrine HCl may occasionally cause anxiety, tremor, dizziness, or cardiovascular effects including tachycardia, hypertension, insomnia and urinary retention.
  • Chlorpheniramine the antihistamine, may cause sedation, gastrointestinal disturbances, and antimuscarinic effects.

Overdose:

  • Paracetamol overdose may cause liver damage. Early symptoms may include ( pallor, nausea, vomiting, diaphoresis and general malaise).Overdose should be promptly treated by gastric lavage followed by intravenous N-acetylcysteine or methionine.
  • Pseudoephedrine overdose is likely to result in effects similar to those listed as adverse effects, and may also produce excess sympathetic
     stimulation.7- 8 caplets has been shown to cause hypertension in normotensive subject.
    Treatment of Pseudoephedrine overdose is mainly symptomatic. Support respiration and control hypertension. Convulsions should be supported with an anticonvulsant if required. Elimination of Pseudoephedrine can be accelerated by acidification of the urine.
  • Antihistamine overdose may cause sedation and central nervous system depression.

New-dol® Cold & Flu caplets:

  • It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of  age.

Usual dose:

  • It is used in doses of 2 caplets every 6 -8 hours . And it is possible to repeat the dose if necessary. Do not exceed 8 caplets in 24 hours.

New-dol® Cold & Flu solution:

Children below 12 years of age:

  • (2-5years): (2.5-5ml) 2 to 4 times per day
  • (6-12years): (5-10ml) 2 to 4 times per day

¤ New-dol® Cold & Flu should be administered with caution in patients with:

  • Sever hypertension, cardiac or peripheral vascular disease .
  • Hyperthyrodism, diabetes mellitus or epilepsy.
  • Breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, glaucoma or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland.

¤ Do not take this product over 10 days or for fever more than 3 days unless directed by a doctor.

¤ Do not  take other medication contining Paracetamol, nasal decongestants or antihistamines at the same times, with New-dol® Cold & Flu.

¤ Caution is also indicated when driving or operating machinery because the drug contain an antihistamine with sedation effects .
