Gyzol® M
Vaginal Ovules anti (protozoal,anaerobic bacteria)

Indication
- Trichomonas vaginalis.
- Pathogenic fungi located in the vagina.
- Anaerobic bacterial infection.
- Infections of candida alba.

Composition
Each vaginal ovules of Gyzol® M contains:
- Miconazole Nitrate 150 mg
- Metronidazole 500 mg

Dosage
- Vaginal ovule taken daily before sleeping for ten days.
- Gyzol® M ovules is highly effective, as it contains miconazole nitrate and metronidazole .
- Metronidazole has antiprotozoal activity against Entamoeba histolytica (intestinal & extra- intestinal forms), Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia and Balantidium coli.
- Metronidazole is also active against a wide range of obligate anaerobic bacteria, including Bacteroide spp.,Fusobacterium spp., and Clostridium spp., various anaerobic cocci, and Gardnerella vaginalis.
- Miconazole nitrate inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungi and changes the composition of other lipid components in the cell membrane, resulting in leakage of the essential intracellular constituents, and finally leads to fungal cell necrosis.
Each vaginal ovules of Gyzol® M contains:
- Miconazole Nitrate 150 mg
- Metronidazole 500 mg
- Trichomonas vaginalis.
- Pathogenic fungi located in the vagina.
- Anaerobic bacterial infection.
- Infections of candida alba.
- Hypersensitivity to one or both ingredients of the product.
- Due to the limited systemic availability after vaginal application, clinically relevant interactions occur very rarely.
- In patients on oral anticoagulants, such as warfarin, caution should be considered and the anticoagulant effect should be monitored, because anticoagulants activity can be potentiated by product administrated intravaginally .
- Contact should be avoided between latex products (such as contraceptive diaphragms and condoms) and Gyzol® M vaginal ovules, since intravaginal preparations of Gyzol® M may damage them.
- The effects and side effects of some other drugs (e.g., oral hypoglycemic and phenytoin), when co-administered with Gyzol® M, can be increased and caution should be exercised
Use during pregnancy :
- As systemic intravaginal absorption of miconazole nitrate is limited, no adverse effects have been reported when using of Gyzol® M, however it is preffered to not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy, unless when considered essential to the welfare of the patient.
Use during lactation :
- It is unknown whether intravaginal miconazole is excreted in breast milk. However, problems in humans have not been documented, caution should be considered.
* Gyzol® M vaginal ovules are usually well tolerated.
* some adverse reactions have rarely been reported including:
- local irritation or sensitivity include (mild burning sensation, erythema, and vaginal itching).
- vaginal discharge.
- abdominal cramps.
- headache, especially at the beginning of treatment.
- Vaginal ovule taken daily before sleeping for ten days.
- If local irritation and hypersensitivity reactions occur, treatment should be discontinued.
- General hygienic measures should be observed to control sources of infection or reinfection.
- Appropriate therapy is indicated when the husband partner is also infected.
- Gyzol® M ovules : pack contains 10 ovules.
- Store below 25 °C.
