Goxime global 30ml
Broad-spectrum antibiotic

Cefixime is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic third generation cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration.

  • The bactericidal action of Cefixime results from inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Cefixime is highly beta- lactamase stable, so many bacteria that resist penicillins and other cephalosporins are susceptible to Cefixime.
  • About 40 -50 % of Cefixime is absorbed, peak serum concentrations occur between 2- 6 hours after oral administration, approximately 50% of absorbed dose is excreted unchanged in urine within 24 hours.Food delay the rate of absorption of Cefixime .
  • Cefixime has been shown to be active against most strains of the following Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms: Streptococcus pneumonia, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus agalctiae, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenae, Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxytoca, Pasteurella multocida, Providencia species, Salmonella species, Shigella species, Citrobacter diversus, Serratia marcescens.
