

Indication
Flaticol® is used for the relief of painful symptoms as sensation of pressure and fullness in the epigastrium and intestinal spasm due to excessive accumulation of gases that may be formed in the digestive tract in the following cases:
- Air swallowing (aerophage) due to anxiety or met with in women about menopause.
- Temporary meteorism following dietary indiscretions
- Functional dyspepsia.
- Irritable bowel syndrome.
- Peptic ulcer.
- Postoperative gaseous distention.
In children and Infant:
- to reduce abdominal gas (faltulence) associated with problems of nutrition.
- Used in Infantile colic.
Flaticol® is also used as a defoaming agent in radiography or endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract.

Composition
Each one ml of Flaticol® emulsion contains:
- Simethicone 40 mg

Dosage
Adults:
- 25 – 50 drops (1 -2 ml) with a little fluid, after every meal and before retiring to bed.
School children:
- 15 – 25 drops (0.6 -1ml) with a little fluid, after every meal and before retiring to bed.
Infants and babies:
- 10 – 15 drops (0.4- 0.6 ml) two or three times a day in the bottle-feeding or after meals (could mix with infant food or suitable liquids).
For diagnostic purposes:
- 2 ml three times daily, and 2 ml before the examination day.
For many gastrointestinal disorders:
- it is given with an antacid.
* Shake the dropping bottle thoroughly before use.
- Flaticol® contains simethicone (also known as activated dimethicone)which is an anti-flatulent drug. It acts by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles which may be formed excessively in the GIT. Then, small gas bubbles will break up and coalesce forming larger bubbles that can be easily expelled through belching or passing flatus.

Flaticol® drops is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to simethicone.
- Ileus and obstructive gastrointestinal disorders.
- Flaticol® is considered safe as it is not absorbed into the body and is not likely to cause problems.
- Since the simethicone in Flaticol® drops is not absorbed in the gastro-intestinal tract and is excreted unchanged, no side effects are expected, and none have been observed.
