Broad-spectrum Antimycotic with Fungicidal Action for Vaginal use
Indication
- Canden® vaginal cream is a complete treatment for vaginal thrush because it treats both the internal cause and external symptoms.
¤ Canden® vaginal cream is only used for patients who have been previously diagnosed as having vaginal thrush.
Composition
Each tube of Canden® vaginal cream contains:
- Clotrimazole 2%
Dosage
- Canden® vaginal cream should be used for three consecutive nights.
- Canden® vaginal cream should be inserted as high as possible into the vagina, preferably before going to sleep at night.
- If the a dose was missed, it should be taken as soon as possible or in the next evening.
- Avoidance of vaginal intercourse is recommended in case of vaginal infection and while using Canden® vaginal cream.
Directions for using the applicator:
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Pull out plunger of disposable applicator until it stops.
- Open tube.
- Attach disposable applicator to tube
- hold it firmly, pressed against tube and fill it by squeezing tube carefully.
- Detach applicator from the tube
- insert as deeply as possible into the vagina (best achieved when lying on your back) and empty by pressing the plunger.
- Remove applicator and dispose it of.
- Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called azoles.
- Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent which acts by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. Inhibition of ergosterol synthesis leads to structural and functional impairment of the fungal cytoplasmic membrane.

¤ Canden® vaginal cream is only used for patients who have been previously diagnosed as having vaginal thrush.
- Hypersensetivity to clotrimazole.
- During menstrual period as it may be less effective.
- To treat nail and scalp infections.
- Concomitant medication of vaginal clotrimazole and oral tacrolimus (immunosuppressant) might lead to increase tacrolimus plasma levels.
- Canden® vaginal cream treatment may reduce the effectiveness and safety of latex products, such as condoms and diaphragms.
- There is limited amount of data from the use of Canden® vaginal cream in pregnant women.
- Available pharmacodynamic/toxicological data in animals have shown excretion of clotrimazole and its metabolites in milk.
- Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment with Canden® vaginal cream.
-Allergic reaction which may include:
- rash.
- swallowing or breathing problems
- swelling of lips, face, throat or tongue.
- weakness, feeling dizzy or faint.
- nausea.
- Itching, rash, swelling, redness, discomfort, burning, irritation, vaginal peeling or bleeding.
- Pain in the abdomen or pelvic area.
