globavance® 500/5
Potent Antidiabetic
  • globavance® contains two oral antidiabetics from different pharmacological classes: metformin (biguanides) and gliben- clamide (hypoglycemic sulfonylureas).
  • Metformin lowers blood glucose by helping your body make better use of insulin. 
  • Glibenclamide lowers blood glucose by increasing the amount of insulin produced by your pancreas.

Each film-coated tablet of globavance® 500/5 contains: 

  • Metformin hydrochloride           500 mg
  • Glibenclamide                     5 mg

Each film-coated tablet of globavance® 500/ 2.5 contains: 

  • Metformin hydrochloride           500 mg
  • Glibenclamide                     2.5 mg
  • globavance® is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. 

globavance® is not given in the following cases:

  • Allergy to globavance®.
  • Insulin-dependent diabetes.
  • Renal insufficiency.
  • Severe infection (respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection).
  • For a 2-day period after a radiologica examen.
  • Heart failure.
  • Respiratory insufficiency.
  • myocardial infarction.
  • Liver failure.
  • Porphyria.
  • Druges containing miconazol.
  • During breast-feeding.
  • Persistent diarrhea, repeated vomiting.
  • Certain  medications (e.g. corticoids, certain diuretics, ritodrine, salbutamol and terbutaline, ACE inhibitors) may cause a more or less severe loss of blood glucose control.
  • The use of this medicinal product during pregnancy is inadvisable.
  • contraindicted during breast-feeding.
  • Gastrointestinal disorders: such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite.
  • Hypoglycaemia: the signs of hypoglycaemia may occur such as tremor, blurred vision, sweating, palpitations.
  • Lactic acidosis: the onset of lactic acidosis often is subtle, and accompanied only by nonspecific symptoms such as malaise, myalgias, respiratory distress, increasing somnolence, and   nonspecific abdominal distress.
  • Skin reactions: including urticaria, itching, hives and skin  eruptions.
  • Laboratory abnormalities of the liver, kidneys or blood.
  • Jaundice and hepatitis may occur rarly: globavance® should be discontinued if this occurs. 
     

* Take globavance® with food or drink. This medicinal product is to be used in adults only. The dosage of this medicinal product is determined individually by your doctor according to laboratory test results (glycemia). 

* The mean usual dosage is: from 1 to 4 tablets daily (taken at the beginning of meals).

* The tablets should be swallowed whole without chewing at the beginning of meals, as following:

  • Once a day, at breakfast if the dosage is 1 tablet daily.
  • Twice a day, at breakfast and at dinner if the dosage is 2 or 4 tablets daily.
  • Three times a day, at breakfast, at noon and at dinner if the dosage is 3 tablets daily. 

* It is important to adhere to a consistent meal schedule,including breakfast, since the risk of hypoglycaemia is increased if you skip a meal; do not eat enough or eat foods with an imbalanced carbohydrate content.

* This medicinal product must be taken every day without interruption, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

* If you have forgot to take globavance®, take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double the dose.

  • During treatment, you should respect diet with regular carbohydrate (sugar) intakes during the day.
  • You should inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicinal products or if you have an infectious disease such as flu, respiratory tract infection or urinary tract infection.
  • globavance® 500/ 5: (Blister of 15 tablets , packs of 2 blisters).
  • globavance® 500/ 2.5: (Blister of 15 tablets , packs of 2 blisters).
  • Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30 ºC.
