Fucidol® Oint.
for treatment of skin infections
  • Sodium fusidate is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic derived from Fusidium coccineum, exerts a powerful antibacterial activity against a number of Gram-positive organisms.
  • Fusidic acid is a steroidal antibacterial with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal activity, mainly against Gram-positive bacteria.
  • Staphylococci, including the strains resistant to penicillin or to other antibiotics, are particularly susceptible to Fucidol®.
  • The therapeutic efficacy of topically applied Fucidol® is due partly to the pronounced antibacterial activity against the organisms responsible for skin infections, and partly to the unique ability of this antibiotic to penetrate intact skin.

Each 1 gram of Fucidol® Ointment contains:

  • Sodium fusidate 20 mg.

Each 1 gram of Fucidol® Cream contains:

  • Fusidic acid  20 mg.

¤ Fucidol® is indicated for treatment of skin infections caused by Staphylococci, Streptococci, Propionibacterium acnes Corynebacterium minutissimum, and other Fucidol® sensitive organisms.The most important indications being:

  • Impetigo, boils, Carbuncles, Paronychia, infected wounds, Sycosis barbae, Hidradenitis, Erythrasma, Folliculitis.
  • Fucidol® Cream can used for acne vulgaris.

¤ Fucidol® Cream is a transparent, non-staining preparation, which is cosmetically acceptable for treatment of face and scalp infections.

  • Fucidol® is remarkably well tolerated, and there is an extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions in the form of rashes and irritation.
  • Fucidol® is applied to the affected area 2–3 times daily, generally for 7 days except of acne where therapy should be extended for a longer period according to the nature of the disease.
  • Fucidol® ointment can be used with or without a covering dressing. 
  • Caution should be observed when applying Fucidol® in the eye region as this preparation may cause irritation if it gets into the eye.
  • Tube containing 15 g.
  • Keep at temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
