Elocon® Oint.
Local corticosteroid

Indication
- Elocon® is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses, such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis in patients 2 years of age or older.
- Elocon® Cream may be applied also to scalp lesions.

Composition
Each 1g Elocon® Ointment contains:
- Mometasone furoate 1mg
Each 1g Elocon® Cream contains:
- Mometasone furoate 1mg

Dosage
- A thin film of Elocon® Ointment or Cream should be applied to the affected skin areas once daily.
- Apply a thin film of Elocon® Cream to the affected skin areas including scalp sites once daily;massage gently and thoroughly until the medication disappears.
- Elocon® may be used in pediatric patients 2 years of age or older.
- Safety and efficacy of Elocon® in pediatric patients for more than 3 weeks of use have not been established.
- Use in pediatric patients under 2 years of age is not recommended.
- Mometasone furoate, like other topical corticosteroids, has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties through controlling the bisoynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes.

- Elocon® Cream may be applied also to scalp lesions.
- Elocon® is contraindicated in patients who are sensitive to Mometasone furoate, to other corticosteroids or any component of these preparation.
- As all other topical corticosteroids, drugs of this class should not be used by pregnant or lactating women in larg amounts or for prolonged period of time.
As any drug, Elocon® has some common side effects included
- burning, pruritus, skin atrophy, tingling/ stinging, rosacea, and furunculosis.
- A thin film of Elocon® Ointment or Cream should be applied to the affected skin areas once daily.
- Apply a thin film of Elocon® Cream to the affected skin areas including scalp sites once daily;massage gently and thoroughly until the medication disappears.
- Elocon® may be used in pediatric patients 2 years of age or older.
- Safety and efficacy of Elocon® in pediatric patients for more than 3 weeks of use have not been established.
- Use in pediatric patients under 2 years of age is not recommended.
- Elocon® should not be used in the treatment of diaper dermatitis.
- Avoid use of Elocon® on the face, groin, or axillae.
- Avoid contact of Elocon® with eyes.
- Wash hands after each application.
- Elocon® is for topical use only. It is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.
- Using Elocon® in pediatric patients under 2 years of age is not recommended.
- If irritation develops, Elocon® should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.
- If concomitant skin infections are present or developed, an appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent should be used.
- Elocon® Ointment : aluminum tube 20 g.
- Elocon® Cream : aluminum tube 20 g.
- Store at a temperature below 25 °C.
